IntegrationsTap Payments

Connecting Tap Payments to your platform

Tap is a payment gateway that gathers the methods buyers across the Gulf and the Middle East already use: KNET, Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and more.

Your platform opens Tap's page for the buyer and receives the result, so the order is recorded as paid and access to the product opens on the same path as any other payment.

From the Growth plan

Tap on your platform

  • Every method on one page

Your platform asks Tap to show everything enabled on your account, so what the buyer sees is what you approved with Tap.

  • Tap in the buyer's language

Tap's page opens in Arabic or English, matching the language the buyer is browsing your platform in.

  • The card is never stored

Your platform asks Tap not to save the card, so the buyer's card details are neither kept for reuse nor received by your platform.

With the rest of your platform

  • Apple Pay without extra setup

Apple Pay appears inside Tap's page, so it needs no domain registration of its own on your platform.

  • Tap's receipt beside your invoice

Tap emails its own receipt to the buyer, and the order invoice stays in your platform as it is.

  • Your order number as the reference

The order number is sent to Tap as the reference for the payment, so a payment in Tap matches an order in your platform.

What decides whether it appears to a buyer

  • The methods on the page follow what you enabled in your Tap account, and they change when you change them there.
  • The currencies you may charge in are set by your agreement with Tap, not by your platform.
  • Bank verification can stop a payment at the issuing bank, and the buyer then returns to checkout to try another method.

The connection steps are in the help centre

Tap is connected from the Apps page of your dashboard, with the secret and public keys from your Tap dashboard. The help centre covers the steps, including testing with test keys before you go live.

Common questions

Is a Tap account required?
Yes. The connection uses the keys from your own Tap account, and the agreement and the fees are between you and Tap.
Where do the order amounts arrive?
In your Tap account, on the settlement schedule in your agreement with Tap. Your platform records the order and holds none of the money.
Does Apple Pay work on my own domain?
Yes. Apple Pay appears inside Tap's page, so your domain needs no registration with Apple for it.
Can Tap run alongside another gateway?
Yes. Every gateway you have enabled appears at checkout, and the buyer picks between them.
Does my platform store card details?
No. The card is entered on Tap's page. Your platform neither asks for it to be saved nor receives its details.
