Connecting PayPal to your platform
PayPal is a wallet. The buyer pays from their PayPal account and chooses inside PayPal how to fund it, then returns to the order on your platform.
It is the method for buyers outside the Gulf, because PayPal collects in its own global currencies rather than in the riyal or the dirham.
From the Growth plan
PayPal on your platform
Your platform's name on PayPal's page
The buyer sees your platform's name while paying, rather than an unfamiliar merchant name.
No shipping address asked for
PayPal is told the purchase is delivered online, so the buyer is never asked for an address they do not have to give.
The order line by line
Each item, its price and any discount are sent to PayPal as their own lines, so the payment there is readable against the order here.
With the rest of your platform
Captured when the buyer returns
Your platform captures the payment with PayPal the moment the buyer comes back, and matches it by the order number.
No card on the order
A PayPal order carries no card brand and no last digits, because the buyer paid inside PayPal and the card never reached your platform.
Refunds live in your PayPal dashboard
A refund is issued in PayPal. Refunding from the dashboard, with the order updated and access withdrawn, is what Lymonah Pay adds.
What decides whether it appears to a buyer
- PayPal collects in its own global currencies, and the Saudi riyal and the UAE dirham are not among them.
- Your platform hides PayPal at checkout for an order in a currency it does not take, so the buyer never reaches a dead end.
- PayPal is hidden while Lymonah Pay is switched on, because Lymonah Pay collects on its own.
The connection steps are in the help centre
PayPal is connected from the Apps page of your dashboard, with the client ID and secret from your PayPal developer dashboard. The help centre covers the steps, including sandbox mode before you go live.
Open the help centreCommon questions
- Can PayPal collect in Saudi riyals?
- No. PayPal collects in its own global currencies, and the riyal is not one of them, so an order priced in riyals goes to your other payment methods.
- Who is PayPal for, then?
- For buyers outside the Gulf, and for selling in the dollar, the euro or the pound. It runs beside your local gateway on the same checkout page.
- Does the buyer need a PayPal account?
- The payment goes through PayPal, and PayPal is what decides how the buyer completes it there.
- Where does the money arrive?
- In your own PayPal account, on PayPal's own schedule. No part of the amount passes through your platform.
- Why does a PayPal order show no card?
- Because the payment happened inside PayPal. Your platform receives the result, not the funding method the buyer chose there.
